Strength for the Job—Support for the Person.

Ironwood Therapy & Training was created to support those who carry a high level of responsibility—first responders, military, and professional helpers who are used to showing up for others, often at a cost to themselves.

The work is grounded, practical, and clinically sound. This isn’t about surface-level wellness or quick fixes. It’s about helping people process what they’ve been carrying, stay steady under pressure, and continue doing meaningful work without losing themselves in the process.

With a background in working alongside public safety professionals, active military, veterans, high-impact professionals, and their families Ironwood offers culturally competent training and consultation that respects the culture, the demands, and the realities of the job and life outside the job. The approach is direct, steady, and rooted in evidence-based practices, including trauma-focused work such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based stress reduction, and polyvagal trauma therapy. Other areas of expertise at Ironwood include grief and bereavement, depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, life transitions, relationship and intimacy issues, and LGBTQIA+ support.

Whether through consultation, training, or clinical support, the goal is simple:
to provide a space that is grounded, trustworthy, and actually useful— where strength is developed over time, and support is real.

Why I Do This Work

Welcome to Ironwood. I’m Linda Gould, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Utah. I’ve spent 11 years working alongside people in roles where showing up isn’t optional—where the expectations are high, the stakes are real, and there isn’t always space to process what the job takes from you.

Over time, I saw a pattern. The people who are the most capable, the most committed, and the most relied on are often the ones carrying the most—quietly, and for far too long.

This work matters to me because I’ve seen what happens when there isn’t a place to put those experiences down. And I’ve also seen what can shift when there is—when someone has the space, the tools, and the support to actually work through what they’ve been holding.

I’m not interested in surface-level approaches or checking a box. I care about work that is honest, practical, and useful—work that respects the reality of the job, the person doing it, and the effects on home life.

Ironwood Therapy and Training was built to offer that kind of space. I’ve been trusted with people’s stories in some of their hardest moments. That’s not something I take lightly—and it’s what continues to shape how I show up in this work.

The Human Behind the Work

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis from Walden University, and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from the University of Georgia. My experience spans a range of settings, including private practice, a sexual assault advocacy center, adolescent and adult psychiatric hospitals, and a full-service sheriff’s office.

These experiences have shaped how I approach this work—grounded, practical, and aware of the different ways people carry and respond to what they’ve been through.

I’m also a mom to two amazing kids, ages 20 and 15, who continue to keep me grounded and growing in ways I didn’t expect.

Outside of my work, I enjoy being outdoors, going to see live music, traveling, cooking, and reading—things that help me stay connected to what matters in my own life.

At the core of what I do is a simple belief: people deserve the space and support to build a life that reflects their values, needs, and what’s meaningful to them.
