Your privacy is a central part of this work. Information shared in therapy, consultation, or training is treated with care and respect, and is kept confidential in accordance with applicable laws and professional standards.
There are a few important exceptions to confidentiality. These include situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult, or when records are required by court order. If any of these situations arise, they will be handled in a way that prioritizes safety and transparency whenever possible.
For consultation and training services, care is taken to protect identifying information and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Participants are expected to respect the privacy of others when group discussion is involved.
Please note that communication through this website, including inquiry forms and email, is not fully secure. Sensitive or urgent information should not be shared through these channels. This website is not monitored for emergencies. If you are in immediate need of support, please contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
If you have questions about confidentiality or how your information is handled, those can be discussed in more detail prior to beginning services.
Confidentiality and Privacy
Informed Consent
Beginning therapy or consultation is a meaningful step. This page is intended to provide an overview of what to expect, how services are structured, and your rights as a client or participant.
Nature of Services
Services offered through Ironwood Therapy & Training may include individual therapy, couples counseling, EMDR intensives, consultation, and training. The approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and tailored to the needs, goals, and context of the individual or organization.
Therapy is a collaborative process. It may involve discussing difficult experiences, thoughts, and emotions. While many people experience relief and growth through this work, outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Voluntary Participation
Participation in services is voluntary. You have the right to ask questions, set boundaries, and discontinue services at any time.
Risks and Benefits
Potential benefits include increased insight, improved coping, and the ability to process and integrate difficult experiences.
Potential risks may include emotional discomfort when discussing challenging or unresolved experiences.
Confidentiality
Your privacy is respected and protected in accordance with legal and ethical standards. There are limits to confidentiality, including situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected child or vulnerable adult abuse or neglect, or when required by law.
Communication
Communication outside of scheduled sessions (including email or inquiry forms) is not fully secure and should not be used for urgent or sensitive matters. The practice email and phone number listed are secure and HIPAA compliant. This practice is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate need of support, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Consultation and Training Services
Consultation and training are not a substitute for therapy. While clinical concepts may be discussed, these services do not establish a therapeutic relationship. Participants are expected to maintain the privacy of others in group settings.
Fees and Scheduling
I accept most major insurance including Anthem BCBS, UHC, Aetna, and Cigna. I have discounted private pay options available for those who may not want to use insurance or do not have insurance. I ask that clients who engage in therapy provide at least 24hrs advanced notice for cancellation of sessions to avoid a no-show/cancellation charge. Fees, scheduling, and cancellation policies will be reviewed prior to the start of services. Clients are encouraged to ask questions about these policies at any time.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
Ask questions about the process at any time
Participate in decisions about your care
Request referrals or additional resources
Discontinue services when you choose
If you have questions about any part of this information, they can be discussed prior to or during your work with Ironwood Therapy & Training. The goal is to create a space that is clear, respectful, and supportive—so you can make informed decisions about the work you’re doing.
